Transport Moscow has a very good public transport system. On city buses, trolleybuses and trams you can get to any point in the city (it is better to plan your route beforehand). City transport has designated stops. On special tablets (with letters A-for buses and T-for trolleybuses and trams) you can see your route number. City transport often works from 5.30 till 0.00 am. It is very handy to use the metro.
The fare on the city transport in various cities of Russia costs between 19 or 25 roubles for one ticket.
Lately it has been popularized by people to use the minibuses (they are called “marshrutka”).
This transport is very frequent and stops in the designated stops or by the request of the passenger. Cost of one ticket is between 15 and 35 roubles. If you want to get to your destination quickly you can take a taxi. Usually these cars are yellow, black or white and have the taxi insignia on the doors or the roof. You can book a taxi by telephone call, so the cost of one trip depends on the distance you wish to travel and it will be located on the display, next to the driver in roubles. Besides the official registered taxies, you can use privately owned vehicles, which don’t have taxi licenses. |
